Professor Guy Marks – Vietnam Lead at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research

Professor Guy Marks is an expert in lung health working in Respiratory Medicine, South Western Sydney Clinical School and University of New South Wales. Professor Marks is the Head of Respiratory and Environmental Epidemiology at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. He is also an Honorary Professor at University of Sydney. He is the Chair of the NSW TB Advisory Committee, and also President of the International Union Against TB and Lung Disease.

Professor Greg Fox – Vietnam Lead at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research

Professor Greg Fox is a respiratory physician, an epidemiologist and a clinical trialist at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. He is also a Professor in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Sydney. Professor Fox is a member of the International Union of TB and Lung Disease, the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and the McGill International TB Center in Canada.

Professor Nguyen Thu Anh – Research Executive

Professor Nguyen Thu Anh is a medical researcher in infectious diseases. She holds an honorary position as Senior Clinical Lecturer at University of Sydney. She has been an investigator for public health interventions to end TB, clinical trials on shorter treatment regimen for TB, preventive treatments for latent TB infection, mHealth technologies for treatment adherence support, health system interventions to decrease the burden of chronic lung disease and research into antimicrobial resistance and COVID-19 control.

MS NGUYEN THI THU – country representative/ chief accountant

Ms Nguyen Thi Thu graduated from the Academy of Finance, majoring in corporate accounting. She has more than 15 years’ experience in finance and accounting at multinational enterprises. Ms Thu has reached a thorough understanding on accounting operations, including enterprise reports and tax matters. She also has a CPA qualification and tax certificate issued by the Ministry of Finance, Vietnam.

 

DR DUONG NU TRA MY – LAB LEAD

Dr Duong Nu Tra My is a senior scientist with over 10 years’ experience in the areas of microbiology, mycology and laboratory management. She received her doctoral degree in Molecular Medicine from the Chonnam National University, Korea with a focus on dissecting the molecular biology of Vibrio vulnificus virulence genes. Thereafter she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit – HCMC for 3 years. Currently Dr Tra My is working as microbiology lab lead for Chronic Pulmonary Aspergillosis (CPA) project at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research – Vietnam. Her main research interests include invasive fungal infections and antifungal resistance and antifungal stewardship.

MS LUU BOI KHANH – ACT5 STUDY MANAGER

Ms Luu Boi Khanh graduated from the Ho Chi Minh Medicine and Pharmacy University in 2011 where she specialised in Public Health. Before joining Woolcock Vietnam, she worked as a Project Assistant at Information, Education and Communication (IEC) project in the community and was a trainer in child rights, child policy and IEC skills for local staff and volunteer groups. Ms Khanh started working in the community-wide screening for tuberculosis project in Ca Mau, Vietnam (ACT3) in 2013. With extensive experience working in a community-based study, together with her ability to function under challenging circumstances in the remote, rural province of Ca Mau, she will coordinate the ACT5 study – a randomised cluster trial to reduce the prevalence of TB among adults in the general community.
